smoked cajun turkey, ham with homemade pepper glaze, my aunt’s famous hash brown casserole, mom’s homemade cranberry sauce, pumpkin, apple, AND pecan pie, etc, etc, etc…
i am full.
my stomach, as well as my heart.
i wish these family gatherings were captured on video. it’s hilarious. and the conversations liberally sprinkled with french phrases and old stories and adults...
family.
i love that my grandmother does genealogy research of our family. right now, i’m reading info she has compiled which traces back one side of my family to my great-great-great-great-great (for real) grandfather, pierre.
i like knowing my history.

It is scary to me how many things still have the power to pull me away from God.
Thankful that He is more powerful than every one of them. I will keep my eyes on Him.
4 hours of sleep
running on empty. my eyes sting. reaction time is slow. but there’s freshly made pot of coffee. and i’m grateful. for times spent with my friends and roommates. they’re incredible. for the chance to further my education. for a mini holiday and days with family. i am so lucky, i am so blessed. i don’t even deserve it.
so i’ll head to class from 8am-5pm straight with...
dance parties are becoming a common occurrence here at apartment 513.
and i like it.
just a typical school night.
jackson 5 on the record player, practicing my “shopping cart” dance move with roommate beth in the kitchen. also, roommate rebecca is making funfetti cupcakes with strawberry frosting.
you knowwww.
tip:
don’t eat leftover sushi before you head to a sold-out show where you will dance, sing very loudly, or get pushed around and man-handled by other fans.
… because i still don’t feel so good. but the show was GREAT.
i’ve also got a pretty sweet bruise coming in on my left foot. oh gosh, it was so fun.
tonight:
yeah!
there is
a direct correlation between how messy or cluttered my room is and how flustered or stressed i feel.
right now, my room is about a 9.5 on the cluttered scale.
typical.
sometimes, it is okay to be a stereotypical girl. like, for example…
tonight, i: - bought two new (very cute) headbands that i probably won’t even wear. - splurged and got sushi for dinner. - took a bubble bath. - tore pictures of attractive celebrities out of rebecca’s magazine. - tried the perfume samples out of that magazine. - blow dried and straightened my hair.

roommate beth. roommate rebecca. musician max bemis. actually, lots of musicians. 3Ddesign installation partner olivia. 3Ddesign installation partner chris. 3Ddesign installation partner travis. the surprisingly nice frat boy in line at the smoothie place. the attractive stranger in LBJ.
it’s a blessing to be around nice, positive people. especially on a monday? i’m...

check out pilot house coffee and their organic and fair trade coffee beans.
10% of all proceeds go to benefit hope house, an orphanage in gulu, uganda. shipping is only $2.50, and it’s at your doorstep within 48 hours.
not to mention: if you live in austin, you get your coffee beans hand delivered to you by a guy on a vespa. no joke.

i’m learning how to hold the things He gives me with an open palm and trust that whatever He does with them is for my absolute benefit.
i have to learn to trust Him completely, with reckless abandon.
it’s scary.
sometimes, i wish i was a filmmaker. sometimes, i think i’m too observant not to be.
i would marry music, places, people, type, movement, and details. the things i see when i’m sitting in the back seat of a car. no messy dialogue, please.
sometimes, i feel inspired. then it goes away as quickly as it arrived.
so take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees. mark...
